90octane Goes Green
The conversion-driven marketing agency initiates a program to reduce the office's environmental impact
DENVER — November 5, 2008 — 90octane has created a plan to lessen the office's environmental impact and take positive steps toward appreciating natural resources by "going green."
Although many of the conversion-driven marketing agency's management and reporting activities are performed online and are therefore paperless, printing materials will be more carefully conserved when needed. Paper will be recycled within the office so that both sides are used before being officially recycled outside of the office, and new document and presentation templates have been designed to lessen the amount of toner required in printing. That makes for fewer purchased toner cartridges.
While 90octane's building managers facilitate paper recycling, the agency is independently delivering aluminum cans, glass and plastic to recycling centers. Office management has placed separate recycling bins in easy-to-access areas and updates the staff on what can and cannot be recycled.
The agency is putting its conservational creativity to work in other ideas as well. Staff members turn off lights when leaving a room for 15 minutes or more; shut down computers before departing at the end of the day; and take advantage of reusable mugs and dishware, rather than paper or plastic products, in the kitchen. Filtered drinking water reduces bottled-water waste.
Lastly, for its efforts to encourage an energy-aware means of travel to and from work, 90octane has been recognized as a Bicycle-Friendly Business by nonprofit organization BikeDenver.
"We are excited to be moving toward a greener office and culture at 90octane, and our green clients are enthused that we're coordinating our efforts with theirs," said Lauren Klostermann, the 90octane Project Manager heading up the efforts.
